T'is not easy being elegantly green.

Did you know that Coco Chanel first introduced jersey fabric in women’s fashion? Yes, the timeless icon of haute couture used comfortable quotidian fabric, previously used exclusively for men’s undergarments, to create elegant designs. Coco Chanel was a visionary of her time, an avant guarde … and yes sustainable … We may think that only organic cotton is green, but … cotton does not require dry cleaning, does not contain animal products, cotton jersey fabric does not require ironing and it just feels natural when you wear it.  There is a reason why they say cotton … the fabric of our lives … it is comfortable. And when you are comfortable, you are confident … you do not need to wear contraptions to be sustainably sexy. It comes from within.

Gena Lisa a local boutique in Nyack, New York is sustainably sex. An avant guard like Coco Channel, Gena Lisa embraces the philosophy that women’s style is ‘classy and fabulous.’ Her style is simple, versatile and functional. Gena Lisa believes if you have the confidence to pull it off, why not.  Chemises, camisoles and lounge pants are just as sexy on the street as they are in the boudoir. Buy quality, buy less and mix it up.

She carries one of my favorite lines, Only Hearts, (which by the way carries a line of organic cotton). She introduced me to the Venice Lace line which she describes as very Yves St. Laurent, but at the same time says that the great thing about the Venice Black Lace Chemise is it travels well.  Throw it in your suitcase you can wear it out at night as a little black dress and accessorize. She carries plenty of accessories too. Who doesn’t want to go out at night feeling sexy and just as comfortable as being at home in your pajamas? If you do not fancy frocks, try the Venice Black Lace Crop Pant.

Gina Lisa has something for all times of the day and for every woman. She has cute après shower robes, what I like to call the morning coffee lounge pants that work so well as yoga/pilates pants, fabulous camisoles that look great with jeans, swim wear (a fabulous Italian line), panties and bras. How you wear them? … your imagination (and well decency) is the limit.

What I love about Gena Lisa is she embraces the theory that true style comes from within. Women come in all shapes and sizes. We do not all look like perfectly shaped models, but that does not mean we are any less beautiful. When you fully embrace who you are, look deep within and accept all your inner whimsies, you are sustainably sexy.

Ms. CoCoVanDerChic’s look this fall is an Only Hearts White Long sleeve t-shirt, Venice Black Lace Crop Pants, Mary Green Thong, Converse Black sequin Converses and a Mara Carrizo Scalise Buddha Necklace.
