Flocking is a great way to raise money for a charitable cause, spread love, bring people together and it is sustainable.
Flocking 101 … in the middle of the night, while you are fast asleep, volunteers are frantically installing a flock of flamingos on your lawn, hoping that you will donate money to support their charity… you continue to spread the love by donating more money to flock a friend’s lawn ….
OR
If you do not fancy flamingos, you can buy anti-flocking insurance and still support the charitable cause, but possibly be labeled a flocking prude.
Yes, you can get flocked and here is how …
Get connected … does your community flock for a charitable cause? If yes, contact them in hopes of waking up one morning to a flock of flamingos on your lawn and support them with a donation.
If not, buy a flock … find a cause and start flocking… have fun.
I know a great place to buy a flock… It is a mom and pop business located in Port Jervis, New York called www.getflocked.com. I had the honor of speaking with Betsy Krakowiak, the owner of www.getflocked.com. She described the story of how she and her husband started selling flamingos.
In 2002, the town of Port Jervis, New York began to use flocking as a way to support a safe senior graduation night. Students, accompanied with an adult, would flock lawns by night to raise funds for their graduation party.
The Krakowiak’s picked up on the good vibes when they started www.getflocked.com. All flamingos the Krakowiak’s sell are made in the United States from the original Don Featherstone mold. Don Featherstone created the first flamingo lawn decoration in 1957 and won the Nobel Prize for Art for his work. He modeled his flamingo design from an image he saw in a National Geographic magazine.
Still wondering why flocking is sustainable? First, a charitable organization purchases a flock which it continues to use over and over again, spreading the love with flocking and raising money to support a charitable cause. Positive energy abounds and even though the Krakowiak’s business is internet based, it is still a Mom and Pop business in the U.S.A.
A few random facts about www.getflocked .com… the Krakowiak’s now ship flamingo’s internationally. Austrailians’ are the latest flamingo lovers. Also, people rarely discard Featherstone flamingos.
Spread the love and get flocked because if feels good to support a cause.
